George G. Dunbrack was born in Halifax in 1823. He was a carpenter at Roxbury, Mass. when on 21 May 1861 he enlisted in Company K, 2nd Mass. Regiment. He became a corporal and fought in several actions before being discharged as disabled by injuries in 1862.

Year of birth may be about 1821. Naturalization record of 1872 says he is age 51.
Chronical Herald states he was 38 in 1861.
