Misc. Notes
From W. Hennepin County Pioneers Association Newsletter, Nov. 1978:

LYDIARD - William (1805-1879) and Hannah (Archibald) Lydiard (b. 1805) headed the next family group discussed here. They settled on what was known later as the Gangelhoff-Leslie Myers place, on the north side of Long Lake village.

He had been educated at universities in Britain and evidently studied for the ministry. He wore clerical black preaching at the Medina Prebyterian Church when no minister was available, a rather unusual appearance in log cabin days.

The whole family were prominent in public affairs and left a mark with the names Lydiard Lake, east of Long Lake, and Lydiard Ave. on Carmen’s Bay. The museum is proud of our collection of family portraits in the picture gallery.
