Misc. Notes
V. Ann Margaret Cheyne (sometimes called "Aunt Sis" by her nephews and nieces) was the oldest daughter of Christina Robertson and Robert Cheyne. She was born on September 27, 1877 at Blink Bonnie in the lower Wairau Valley, near Blenheim, on the beautiful South Island of New Zealand.

She was around 16 years old when her mother was remarried to James Beauchop, and she moved with the family to the North Island of New Zealand. There she lived part of the time with her mother and part of the time with Georgeson relatives. Starting around 1919, she lived for about 8 years with her mother, Christina, who had moved to Woodville, about 120 miles north of Wellington, but since around 1907 she had helped her mother to take care of Tina and Laurie Cheyne, the two children of her widowed brother, James Cheyne. Tina and Laurie were moved to Woodville, but in 1919 Ann Margaret, with the two children, moved back to the Wellington area to live with her brother, until he remarried in 1922.

After that, Ann Margaret moved to Remuera, a suburb of Auckland, where she worked and supported herself. A dress designer, she never married.

Ann Margaret Cheyne died in Remuera, New Zealand on October 31, 1947 -- 13 years after her mother passed away and just two months after the death of her youngest brother, Robert. She was 70.

In 1914, while living with her mother at Woodville, Ann Margaret and her first cousin Agnes O'Brian, who lived in the South Island of New Zealand, made an extensive tour to Canada, Ohio, Scotland, and the Shetlands - visiting many friends and relatives. She helped her mother keep in close contact with all the relatives, and she was greatly loved by her family at home.
