From James Duncan Byers’ Diary, 21 Feb 1896:
93“Angus D. Gilbert was hanged in Boston for the murder of Alice Sterling of Sabin HIll, Dorchester. He was a son of George and Isabella of Little River.”
Note by Jennie Reid:
1“The real murderer of Alice Sterling confessed on his death-bed. Angus Gilbert always maintained he was innocent. The evidence was circumstantial.
