Dear Rod
I was most surprised to receive your letter, thank you. I tried the website you gave me www.dumbreck.co.uk with all the search engines available but for reasons unknown I could not find it. Do you have any ideas?

Our Mary Dumbreck (21) Lanark, married James Gibson (29) Carnwath, in St Nicholas's Presbyterian Church in Lanark, by the Rev. Alex McGlashan on the 13th December 1867. Witness: Alexander Wilson & William Gibson.
Mary's father was John Dumbreck (Hostler) and her mother was Mary (Wilson)

John Dumbreck's parents were JOHN Dumbreck and Margaret (Stevenson.)

James & Mary (Dumbreck) Gibson had four children born in Forth parish of Carnwath, Adam, Mary, Catherine and Margaret.(Their last son James was born in N.Z.) The family sailed from Clyde 29.01.1879 on the maiden voyage of the Westland, they were nominated from Lanark, as assisted emigrants to N.Z.
Mary Dumbreck b.c1846, had brothers and sisters but I cannot remember their names, (my brother Adam Gibson has the file so I will contact him later)

Mary died 24.07.1923 in Westport. N.Z. aged 77 years. She was my great grandmother. I have an early photo of Mary and James taken in Carnwath with two of their children and one other taken in their later years in N.Z..

How does all this fit in with your information? I have a complete list of 7 N.Z. generations = 399 direct descendants!!! (up to September 1993.)

I look forward to hearing from you,
Regards

Cynthia Beban. (Postal address: P.O. Box 45-022 Epuni. Lower Hutt. N.Z.)
